Like many people, my interests are extremely varied and diverse. Instead of making ten different websites for 10 different interests, I’m going against the grain and making this website about anything and everything. You could be reading about computers one second then read about politics or backyard grilling the next.

A little about me

Currently, I’m a married 49 year old truck driver, but because of the economy that could change any minute. I own my truck and a trailer and have been driving for 10 years. My wife was driving with me for several years but when we weren’t getting enough work we decided she would finish her degree and find a full time job. That part of the plan is well underway.

A long time ago I was deep into networks and computers not only in my personal hobbies, but work. This was before Windows and before the Internet was really public. If these sound familiar: Digital Equipment Corp, microVax, Unisys, x.25, O’scopes, patch panels, DOS, Commodor, PC Clone, 2400 baud, BBS, Compuserve, you kind of know what I was doing.

I was a Network Analyst for several Fortune 500 company networks and worked in a Network Operations and Frontend Systems (the computer between the mainframe and the network) environment for many years.

Next?

My part of the plan is to get out of trucking as cleanly as possible, continue going to school while working part time, until I find a full time job I want, preferably in IT (Information Technology) or for us plain folk, a job doing computer stuff.

My trucking blogs are still about trucking, but I wanted to spare the trucking audience the details of upgrading a hard drive or setting up a multi boot XP, Vista and Linux. That stuff is still important to truckers, but this is just something different and might be interesting to others as well. If you’re from one of the trucking blogs, welcome and here we talk about anything but trucking.

I’m no Expert

I’m telling everyone right here and now, I’m not an expert. I know a bunch of stuff and I love learning about more stuff, but I’m no expert and I’m willing to learn anything from anyone that is willing to share.

If you learn something here, great. Enjoy, pass it on, build on it and let me know. I will try not to be so totally wrong you blow something up, but if I’m wrong or I missed a detail, I’m the first one that wants to know about it and will admit I missed something.

I Can Help

You’ll see a few things about remote support programs. I have a profile at Cross Loop and I’m willing to help anyone that has a problem or needs some help or advice on most anything on or connected to a computer. If I don’t know, I probably know someone that does. Sometimes I may have to charge, other times a positive feedback might be enough. Feel free to ask and I’m sure we can work something out.

Participate

A lot of stuff on here will be my opinion. Learn to spot the difference here and everywhere else on the Internet.

I want to make it as easy as possible to contribute your comments and opinions without a bunch of hoops to go through. Spam usually happens in waves, so there may be times I put some hoops in the way or have to moderate things more closely.

Sit back, enjoy, ask questions, participate.
